How to Register .com.np for Free

I just registered a free .np domain name.

To register a free domain, you have to fill up a registration form available in the website –> http://register.mos.com.np/form.asp

But before that check the domain availability in the link –> http://register.mos.com.np/check_domain_availability.asp

While filling up the registration form, you have to fill up the hostname and ip address of the nameserver which provides the space to host your pages.

Suppose, if you want to host your website in www.freehostia.com, which is a free web hosting site, then you have to create an account in freehostia.com i.e. you will sign up in freehostia.com and choose a domain hosting scheme.

The hostname of name servers for www.freehostia.com are
dns1.freehostia.com (primary)
dns2.freehostia.com (secondary)

You can ping the links above and get their ip.

- To ping the nameserver open command prompt (press CTRL+R, type cmd and click OKbutton)
- In the command prompt, type ping dns1.freehostia.com
- Then you will get ip address of the hostname.
- Similarly, repeat the process to ping dns2.freehostia.com and get its ip address.

At present, when I ping to the nameservers of freehostia.com, I get the following ip addresses:-

Primary Name Server
Hostname: dns1.freehostia.com
IP Address: 66.40.52.47

Secondary Name Server
Hostname: dns2.freehostia.com
IP Address: 66.40.66.152

After you fill up the form, you have to attach a photocopy of you citizenship along with an application for the free registration of .np domain and submit it to mercantile office at durbarg marg, kathmandu.

You can also Fax your application and citizenship.

After 2 to 3 working days, you will have your free .np domain ready.
